Raja Muda Selangor International Regatta 2021 is confirmed!

Registration for the passage regatta between along the west coast of the Peninsula is declared open

October 7, 2021

The 31st RMSIR was originally planned to take place in November 2020 but was later postponed due to the worldwide pandemic. We now recognise that Malaysia has made excellent progress with vaccination campaigns and that the number of serious cases are predicted to fall significantly in the fourth quarter of 2021. The Health Minister has announced that “Malaysia should enter the endemic phase by the end of October and at that time we will start to live with the virus, with more sectors reopened.” We therefore consider that RMSIR31 can be scheduled for the fourth quarter of this year.

So we are pleased to announce that the 31st RMSIR will take place form 10 to 18 December 2021 in a simplified form.

This scaled down version will be a series of friendly passage and harbor races, following the usual Port Klang ... Pangkor ... Penang ... Langkawi route, but with a revised format to include sailing to Pangkor overnight on Saturday 11th December, followed by on the water events in Pangkor on Monday 13th November. The usual passage race format will be scheduled Pangkor/Penang but there will not be any local racing in Penang; the fleet will sail on to Langkawi after an overnight stop. Limited social gatherings will follow the Government SOP, so there will be no organized dinners or entertainment in Pangkor and Penang; food and drink will be D.I.Y. Dinners will be arranged in Port Klang and Langkawi.

In Pangkor and Penang, sampan ferry services will be provided to take sailors back and forth between their anchored boats and the shore. So you can sleep on the boat or arrange a hotel according to your preference. In Langkawi, free mooring at the Royal Langkawi Yacht Club will be arranged on a first come first served basis for 3 days.

All participants and staff will need to be double vaccinated at least 2 weeks prior to the event, and adhere to an SOP that will be released before to the regatta start.

If you do intend joining us then we suggest that you urgently make your crew hotel bookings, especially in Langkawi, as this is a busy holiday period. The revised schedule is downloadable at: http://www.rmsir.com/!DL/RMSIR31_Proposed_Schedule.pdf
